In the 17^th and 18^th a very rough area full of tinkers and squatters and the whole area was made up of huts and sandpits and so on. Cut off by the railway by deep cuttings. Then it was bought by the Necropolis Company. 

Hook Heath Avenue

First act of the Necropolis company was to build this road which opened up the area for building development.  They later opened an estate office here to sell of the land.

Mount Hermon Estate

Developed from 1885 and more upmarket

Wych Hill

York Estate

Named for the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of York in 2893. bit more downmarket and nearer to the railway.
