Heston
heathland settlement in an area which separated the North Middlesex forest from Thameside marshes. Name is Saxon and means a settlement among the brushwood. ‘Hestone’ c.1125, ‘Hestune’ c.1130, ‘Heyston’ c.1495, ‘Hesson’ 1635, that is 'farmstead or estate among the brushwood', from Old English ‘hxs’ and ‘tun’.
