Golf Club Road

Built by the Necropolis company to open up the area and turn it into something posh. The name of the road indicates the sort of ambience expected.

Holly Bank Road

Built by the Necropolis company to open up the area and turn it into something posh.

Hook Heath Avenue

First act of the Necropolis company was to build this road which opened up the area for building development. They later opened an estate office here to sell of the land.

St. John’s Hill Road

Developed with posher housing than the rest of the area.

St. John’s Church.  1842 G.G.Scott. Early church built as a chapel of ease.  Gave its name to the new community growing up around it and became a parish church in 1883. 

Jackman Nurseries.  Late 18th and early 19th.  Developed a specialist clematis. Jackman died in  1893 and the land was sold for building.

St. John’s Lye

Excluded from the Necropolis Act at the insistence of the vicar so that it could be used in perpetuity by the people of Woking.
