Part of an old route which goes from Ripley down the North Downs scarp via Combe Bottom to Shere and then ends up at the Roman villa near Ewhurst. This is one of the old roads connecting North Downs settlements with swine pastures in the Weald.

Old Soap House. Said to be where local soap was made.  Soapwort grows in its garden
